Correcting Your Metadata

When you type your book's ISBN into the search bar on the Ingram iD website, iD automatically locates the book that corresponds to that ISBN. Once found, the website reviews the book's metadata, which includes details like the book's title, author, cover image, and description. Just like the information on a book's cover helps you understand what the book is about, metadata helps computers and people know what a book is all about.

Every now and then, iD might give you wrong search results by accident. Here are a few examples of these mistakes:

• Your book’s ISBN is incorrect on iD or it's attached to a different book.
• Your title’s cover image may be missing or incorrect.
• The wrong book description may be attached to your title.

Occasionally, iD might provide incorrect search results by mistake. Although it might seem like a complex technical issue, it's a problem that can be fixed quite easily:

• If you are an IngramSpark account holder, please log into your IngramSpark account and update your book information there.

• If you work with a publisher or vendor that distributes ONIX, please contact your publisher or your metadata manager.

• If you use another service to print and distribute your title, such as Kindle Direct Publishing or Blurb, please log into that platform to update your book information.
