How to Run Book Giveaways

Book giveaways are a powerful way for authors and publishers to increase visibility, connect with new readers, and build momentum around a title. With Ingram iD, you can easily create and manage giveaways that drive engagement, boost discovery, and grow your audience—all from one platform.

What is a Giveaway?

An Ingram iD Giveaway is a promotional campaign that allows you to offer free copies of your book to readers who enter for a chance to win via our website, Bookfinity.com.

When readers enter the giveaway on Bookfinity, your book is automatically added to their want-to-read lists, further exposing it to their networks and signaling interest to the wider community. 

What are the key benefits to running a giveaway?

How do I create a Giveaway?

  1. Log into Ingram iD here
  2. Click on the "Create a Giveaway" button on your homepage
  3. Enter the name of your giveaway (this is what will show up as the header of your giveaway)
  4. Enter a description of your giveaway (NOT a book description)
  5. Type in the ISBN, book title, or author name under "Add Book(s) to Your Giveaway", > Find Book > select your book > Add Title. Then type in the publisher, the link to purchase your book, and click"Continue"
    • Note: You must use an approved link for the giveaway. This must be a direct product page or supported retail website such as Amazon, Bookshop.org, Barnes & Noble, etc. Custom or personal landing pages are not currently supported. To see the full list of approved websites, click here
  6. If your book is an advanced reader copy, click on the box next to "My book is an advanced reader copy (enter book manually)". Then upload the book cover and enter the information the title, book description, author, publisher, and purchase link of your advanced reader copy
    • Note: You must use an approved link for the giveaway. This must be a direct product page or supported retail website such as Amazon, Bookshop.org, Barnes&Noble, etc. Custom or personal landing pages are not currently supported. To see the full list of approved websites, click here
  7. Select the audiences that are relevant to your book and click "Continue"
  8. Choose the start date of your giveaway (we request at least 5 business days for our system administrators to approve your giveaway). Giveaways run for 30 days
  9. Enter the number of winners, value of your book, your contact information, and your shipping information. Then click "Continue"
  10. Review your giveaway information, the full terms and conditions for the giveaway, and click "Proceed to Checkout"
  11. Enter your payment information and click the Pay button
  12. From there, we will review your giveaway and contact you regarding next steps

 

What happens after my Giveaway has ended?

Giveaways are 30 days and winners are selected at random. Once selected, we will notify both you and the winner.

Once your Ingram iD Giveaway has ended and a winner has been randomly selected, you must ship the book to the giveaway winner.  We will provide you with the information of the winner, so you know who and where to ship the book to. You must ship the book within 2 weeks of the giveaway ending and receiving notice of who the winner was. Please note, if you fail to ship your book to the giveaway winner, this will result indisablement of your Ingram iD account until a resolution is reached.
